Holding Fire

Poem

IN A MILLION YEARS NOTHING HAPPENS HOW COULD IT

IM HOLDING FIRE AND EVEN THAT NEVER BURNS

I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED WHEN THEY BARED THEIR TEETH AT ME AND I LEFT

THEM MUTE AS A FOG ALONG A DESERT NIGHT

I WAS PROMISED EXPERIENCES AS THEY CAME CLOSER AND THEY CLUNG

BUT IM STILL THE SAME AND I DONT THINK THAT WILL EVER CHANGE

JUST BECAUSE OF THE WARNINGS; JUST BECAUSE OF THESE WALLS

JUST BECAUSE I WAS PUSHED INTO THE SHADOWS BY FEAR

I DONT THINK THAT WILL EVER CHANGE

IN A MILLION YEARS NOTHING HAPPENS HOW COULD IT
