Hiding in Sight

A Poem

This is me;

this is who I am when I am no longer lost in the foreboding silence caused by society.

This is the side of me that lingers in the shadows until I'm sure I am alone.

This is the weakness frowned upon by many;

including the ones who know the feeling all too well themselves.

We hide behind our painted faces glazed with fake smiles and clear eyes;

Yet, there are noticeable remnants of sadness within our iris'

that if one person were to just open their eyes and take in their surroundings; they'd notice.

They wouldn't see the pain.

They would only see that something was off, but no one will notice because no one cares.

And those same people will continue to not care until it is them just wishing someone would notice.
