Hiding

So That You Won't See

You see just the shadow of me,

You can see the wall I have built,

You can see the mask I hide behind,

But you cannot see the pain and fear,

You cannot see that my soul disappears,

You cannot see because I won't allow you to.

The shadow is to distract you from the truth,

The wall is to protect others from what I feel,

The mask is so I can make it through the day,

The pain and fear sometimes takes me away,

My soul just runs away in utter fear,

I won't allow you to see the horrors inside of me.

So I hide in the shadows, behind my wall and mask, hoping that these feelings won't last.
