A Poem

Hey ol' friendI know we haven't talked for awhileBut I must admitI've been doing quite alright

I met a girlThis one I think you'll likeShe drives a truckIt's a Ford but I guess that's fine

Hey ol' friendI told her what you'd sayIf I could've called you upTo tell you about our date

She married? She crazy?Did you go the full hundred?Or keep it at eighty?

What's her name?Where she from?Ten questions before I answer oneHey ol' friendI told her our favorite storiesEven the ones she wouldn't getBut I just sat there laughingYou'd have been laughing too I bet

She knows all about youShe knows all about your kidsIt's a shame she'll never meet youEven though she'll never need toThere's nothing else she could possibly know.

Hey ol' friendShe ain't married (not yet)She's kinda crazy (you bet)I might've gone the full hundredBut she beat me to eighty

She's a different kinda ladyand I know you knowCuz you're lookin’ down, watching over meI hope you approve, and her daddy does tooCuz I want her to marry me.

Hey ol' friendI know we haven't talked for awhileBut I must admitI've been doing quite alright

And I hope you keep looking downwatching over me tonight.
