She finds it fun
Wearing legless garments
Covered in scentless flowers
And twirling on the sidewalk,
Pulling along her man
With that grip of a bold,
Independent bird:
Today is her day.
And she drags with her
The gentleness of love
Which twirls about as if it were
The wind catching
Her embroidered dress,
Finding it fun her
Leading the way
With her hair on her
Shoulders not at all
Tired from the weight.
And she crushes the hand of her crush
Yet does so delicately,
Because today is her day,
Which won’t be ruined
By the broken fists of disagreement.
And she finds it fun,
The knowing that
This is her day,
As she struts in front
Of her man,
Who can only stare
At her trailblazing confidence:
She finds it fun,
Her day of extending
Her gentle arm behind her,
Walking excitedly to let go
For him to follow--
She finds it fun,
Knowing these days are
Hers.
