Hero's Last Ride

A Father's Goodbye

He parts her hair one last time,

Tucked her away deep inside.

The pain she'll always remember,

Of her daddy by her side.

He cried alone that first December,

He walked away into the cold.

She cant quite remember,

But she was barely three years old.

Every coward lives forever,

Every Hero says goodbye.

Forever they are remembered,

This is this Hero's last ride.

He talked about the weather,

If the sun would hold that day.

But it wouldnt be forever,

They all cried as they walked away.

Times he'd held it all in line,

But today he met his match.

But he came for his glory,

Was that too much to ask?

Every coward lives forever,

Every Hero says goodbye.

Forever they are remembered,

This is this Hero's last ride.

She held him tight that summer,

And even tighter in the fall.

But as he drove away,

He knew that was her last call.

She raised him from the ashes,

Of a broken home and trust.

To fail her meant forever,

Her body had turned to dust.

Every coward lives forever,

Every Hero says goodbye.

Forever they are remembered,

This is this Hero's last ride.

He saddled up his memories,

And headed off to war.

But before he could leave her,

He held her close once more.

He fell to an enemy unseen,

Fought the battles and in between.

For a piece of earth and his Brothers,

She wished it all had been a dream.

Every coward lives forever,

Every Hero says goodbye.

Forever they are remembered,

This is this Hero's last ride.

And they all took turns amongst them,

To choose their destiny.

To risk their fame and fortune,

And leave their family.

To chase their time immortal,

To embrace their destiny.

And walk amongst the living,

And become all they could be.

Every coward lives forever,

Every Hero says goodbye.

Forever they are remembered,

This is this Hero's last ride.
