Hero

Poem

In the corner I would see her all alone

She never did reach out to anyone

I would see her at school but never spoke a word to her

She never seemed to have any friends

She kept to herself but I felt pulled towards her

I felt that she might need me

So I began to reach out slowly

She was reluctant at first

So afraid of human interaction

It was like she was used to people treating her badly

I kept reaching out despite warnings from others

I knew that she needed me, needed a friend

I could feel her start to trust me

And we became close friends

I was always glad that I reached out to her

As much as she needed me, I needed her

And I became her friend just in time

As she felt so very alone and betrayed

And thought about killing herself

But I reached out to her

And made her feel wanted and needed

I was her hero, but in return, she became mine.
