Dear lawmakers all over the world,
this one is for you.
I'm not a political statement.
You do not get to regulate me to become popular.
You do not get to tell me what I can and cannot do with my body, just so people will vote for you.
You say that my unborn child could have had dreams and aspirations, but guess who else had those dreams?
Savita Hallappnavar.
Remember her?
The woman whose dreams were put to rest just so her dead unborn child had rights.
That unborn child is an "it."
She is a person.
The unborn child doesn't feel the pain that she does on any other day.
The unborn child is a cluster of what ifs and what mays.
But she is what she is. She is here today.
