She fell for him
As he grew
She kissed him softly
And he knew
She whispered things like
I love you
He melted her heart
Right in two
He wondered why
She was so blue
He contemplated life
As he knew
He wanted her to smile
Real and true
She wanted the same thing
For him too
She began to wonder
About her new
She wanted a more
secure view
She wanted him to be
financially in tune
He wanted a brighter future
Out of her womb
He watched her birth a baby boy
She watched little him become her joy
He didn’t back away but
She couldn’t decide if he should stay
The little he was on his way
To becoming like him one day
She didn’t want to but had to say
Goodbye to him
As her new he laid
in his crib dreaming of his mother’s faith
He just wasn’t getting enough pay
She could help her child survive but needed extra to get him on his way
So she said goodbye to the he who wouldn’t change
In hopes she’ll find the he
Who makes her baby exactly who he’s meant to be
Until then she’ll wait patiently
Until then he’ll work to be the he

Stuck in Place
Amy whistled as she walked through her front yard, looking for any sticks she could pick up and throw into the pile she and her brother were making. They had a big windstorm recently; as such, all the trees in their yard had suffered some damage in some loss of sticks. Or perhaps losing those sticks was a good thing since their trees probably needed to be pruned anyway. Amy wasn't sure.
