Not so long ago, I stumbled on an astonishingly inspiring piece of verse attributed to Dr. William Purkey called "Dance Like Nobody's Watching" and wanted to turn it into a song.

So I went about trying to amplify the concept into a lengthier work with the same theme and came up with the following poem.

As it turns out, Professor Purkey is a very friendly man who (when I astoundingly) contacted him through email, gave me his full blessing and permission to adapt his verse into longer form poetry which I am trying to set to a tune.

I imagine it as a waltz:

(FIRST VERSE)

Life can be long and exciting

Or it can be short and so sweet

Yet wonderful when we're uniting

With all of the loved ones we meet

(SECOND VERSE)

Still the world can be cold and confusing

And one day we'll all disappear

So what good is the winning and losing?

If it seems like nobody hears?

(CHORUS)

So, sing like no one is listening

Love like you’ve never been hurt

Dance like nobody’s watching

And live like it’s Heaven on Earth

(THIRD VERSE)

With or without us it's certain

The world will continue to spin

But when it comes to the final curtain

That's when our new life begins

(FOURTH VERSE)

So, don't let your heart fill with sorrow

And try to avoid all the pain

Know that there's always tomorrow

And we'll see each other again

(CHORUS)

And sing like no one is listening

And love like you’ve never been hurt

And dance like nobody’s watching

And live like it’s Heaven on Earth

(OUTRO)

Oh, dance like nobody’s watching

And live like it’s Heaven on Earth

Yes, dance like nobody’s watching

And live like it’s Heaven on Earth...

If anyone can help me with the music, that would be great!

Thanks!
