Hearts Must Pay

A Poem

I've been ignored

Much longer than

You've been interested,

So, it's best you keep your distance

No matter

What the condition is

Ive practically become accustomed

To being alone,

Where now, taking an interest

In someone is just a fucking joke

Or vice versa,

Everyone has their preference,

You can have it your way

Cause anything less is worthless

Pompous delights

Selfish entice the masses,

Content within the box

Designed for the right classes

Whatever that means

As long as it fits the category

Supposedly, to better qualified

Guests and patrons only

Never lost hope

Just hope that I don't gaze upon

A misconception of love

By televised automatons

No one is perfect

Well, neither am I human,

Most prefer a finished product

Not someone that needs improvement

“As long as you have”

And, “What's the soup of the day?”

It's never, where the heart lies

But even the heart must pay
