Since when did social media rectify our lives?Networking accounts that merely dissolve like paint thinner against our own pride?
Since when did we become the victim of our own self-indulged virtual minds?Just how many hours have we spent and lost in order to waste time?
How many dozen filters have we swiped across our canvas faces?Just how far are we from reaching a filter that renders us only traces until we’re faceless?
Just how many likes do we need to cure our anxiety?I wasn’t aware virtual gestures were a sincere adaptation of priority
How long have our eyes been pixilated and brainwashed by promotions?I don’t recall the last time I made a purchase that didn’t coattail an actual emotion
How long have we neglected the likes of our own loved ones?I’ve spent more hours blinded by the likes of statuses than I should have ever done
Just how long have we been spiraling down this hole? How many hashtags and filter fads do we need to regain self-control?
How much longer can our own shattered minds take it?We’re a generation that’s upon extinction and nobody seems to give a shit
How long until we realize our mistakes and discover anarchy?A revolution would succeed, but only when we deplete battery
Just how long do we have before we pass and leave behind bereavement? The legacy we’ll leave behind will consist of a news feed or a notification of achievement
Our lives are forever imprisoned behind the screens of our phoneOne day we’ll look beyond the bars and realize we’re no longer home
We’re the young ones who have a path; a path of which we choseYet we forget our history is but a browser; a tab that can always close
So I’ll sit here, as will you; pretending to be givingWe will all die as drones; that’s the cost of never living
