Happiness

A Poem for the Lost

Happiness.

A goal that seems impossible to achieve now,

As we stand alone in the suffocating silence and Darkness known as depression.

It suffocates us slowly,

Leaving us without breathe;

Unable to scream for help as it drags us under.

It seems impossible to break free,

But one day,

After many months of agonizing pain and suffering

And many nights spent holding handfuls of pills

or razor blades to our wrists,

We will emerge victorious.

It seems impossible now to achieve happiness,

But together,

We will conquer this monster.

Together,

We will stand tall on the other side

As we suffer through the nights of loneliness,

Agonizing pain,

And deafening silence.

We are not alone in this battle,

But together,

We will make our common enemy surrender,

Only to hear people shout our names from the rooftops

Because they know all too well the battle we have fought.

We will emerge,

Bruised and scarred,

But we will win.

Together,

We will win
