Halloween

For You to Feel as You Feel Right

The crowds were creeping one cruel night

At the end of the October breath

As darkness hid from small dim light

Stalking potential death.

And small children walked the paths

Disowned by guardians old

Hidden between the talks and laughs

A story began to unfold.

Now for faint of heart I advise you this

That run and hear not this tale

For it should be better these words you miss

Or forever this story may dwell.

Among the crowds one struck alone

Hidden so others knew not

And whilst she called, others deemed her stone

No glance or word her way shot.

But October pitied her empty life

Despite her warmth of heart

So it sought to bring an end to strife

And in her body should evil start.

So when her path was empty ahead

No shadow dared stalk this prey

October chose this night to wed

And took her without delay.

When sad and alone nobody can see

The queen that went away.

A gentle rustle gave her no time to flee

And her body found the next day.

Bloodied and left in an inhumane way

These beasts of October struck.

These cowards of history deserve no say

But their times were out of luck

For her heart may very have been warm

But her wrath was hotter still

And her soul refused to stay forlorn

As she sought her captors to kill.

Unseen to eyes she hunt them all

One by one they fell

And just as October killed her call

She brought October to hell.

So every year we send them out

Not knowing who lies behind

But the children need not scream or shout

For a gentle ghost keeps them in mind.

They knock on doors of souls impure

And happily take what they feel

Because it was so many years before

That darkness had it’s steal.

So if you’re evil deep inside

Beware this deadly queen

For one night a year you must hide

And not come out on Halloween.
