Growing Up & Leaving Home

Poetry in motion

the walls i grew up in

growing up is not growing old. growing up is growing wise.

youth fades like your favourite tee that you wear to bed. wisdom lasts and grows. it is the seed that you planted long ago, let it grow.

it comes up quick and lasts forever, that feeling, that pinch that you haven't quite done what you thought you could or would.

take a breath child, you have time.

time to be young,

time to be brave,

time to feel lost and find your place.

you are not the walls you grew up in, those walls became you and will now become the next and the next.

but you will create more walls and more rooms with bigger doors and open windows.

home is a state of heart, where you decide to place your pictures and trinkets.

settle into the new, with the pieces you took from the old.

say goodbye and lay your hat by a new door.
