because it hurts
when you want them to know.
to feel how you feel.
to love you.
to cherish the moment

that made you believe
in flying.
the minute that
passed
before you breathed again.
because the you you once were
seems so shallow
in the face of the you
you always wanted to be
if someone,
anyone,
would just walk into your life
and give you permission
to exist.
in his arms you've found
new definitions for words you never though to use
flipping through your heart's lexicon
searching for new meanings
new ways to express...
this.
but as easily as the feeling comes,
it goes.
the exhale comes as your feet
leave the ground
and you are left
standing
alone
searching yet still.
screaming silently:
"if you'll allow
me to fall for you
i can forgive your abandonment"
...i awake as my body collides with the ground.

Ameera looked at the fat paunch and florid face of her boss, a man who lived for the story and the kudos it brought him but who rarely gave consideration to the people behind the drama. When had he become so hard? She reckoned that by the end of the year, he'd be dead, collapsed from a heart attack and she struggled to conjure any sympathy in that moment and instantly felt ashamed at displaying the same lack of compassion that he had.
