Although we never said it I think we both knew.

Unspoken words stain tender hearts like rust amplifies on screws.

We wish and wish but all we do is wait.

Feeding off our dreams,

we anticipate a signal to fetch the bait.

We’re scared to feel, scared to fall;

scared to say the things worth saying.

Emptying our wallets, we empty our soul.

We overlook the price we end up paying.

Sometimes no matter how hard we try.

The ink stains our hands permanently, smitten by the dye.

For I will soon forget the colour of your eyes and you’ll forget mine.

Yet these moments I’ll keep forever-

immortal memories painted on the walls of time.

I fought and I lost. I fought and I won.

You claimed the prize before we even begun.

It’s a concept Einstein himself just had to speak of.

See you can’t blame gravity for falling in love.
