Goodbye to the Ghosts

A Poem of Strength

My legs have been worn down,

My mind has been running in a marathon,

My blood flows in currents of burning rivers,

My heart has taken a beating,

My soul has left me fleeting,

I will not chase you anymore,

I will not welcome you back,

I will not sit with you,

I will not speak with you,

This is where we part ways…this is where I say goodbye to the ghosts,

My shoulders have tightened with the weight,

My spirit has been crossed with a blade for too long,

My eyes have replayed those memories like a broken projector,

My ears have heard those words like a jumping record,

My fingers have touched those moments too many times,

My skin has felt your breath for the last time,

Your smell has lingered here for longer than it should,

This is where we part ways…this is where I say goodbye to the ghosts
