Goodbye

The Truth Behind the Word!

I truly wanted to write this piece,

To show how much I struggle to breathe,

When this word is spoken to me.

It is not a word, I frequently use,

Because when it is whispered, sung or expressed,

It puts a lump in my throat,

A tear to my eye,

And a skip to the serenade of my heart.

It maybe through trauma,

The secret shall be kept,

But I can always speak,

Explain and abbreviate

The things I alleviate

From this negative.

Tis’ the true threat.

I am forced to withdraw those feelings,

Of depression and anxiety of simply seeing this word,

And everywhere I go,

Hearing the chirp,

As it tears away love, and embrace,

Friendships and families,

Or even when it is too late to be spoken at all.

It whistles through the corridors of hospitals,

Cutting like a knife, in an operation,

And the last heartbeat to be sung.

No machine able to stir the stirrups of the heart and lungs.

Respect those around you,

As this word could simple be said sooner rather than later.

Tomorrow is another day,

We fight to find ourselves, and

We win our battles,

And succeed within wars.

Goodbye's the last word I ever expect to hear from your lips,

Whistling into my ear,

'See you soon' or 'later'

Is expected to be the jeer,

We fight this together, you an’ me

We sing this song of life,

To fend off the death that will evidently be.

I still get chills, fortifying my spine,

But when you hold me close,

To your heart racing,

And mutter the 3 words I crave to cheer,

Even at the end of all,

I love you, is the only cause that is worth a brawl.

Let's embrace the life we have together,

As ‘goodbye’ can simply be around the corner.
