Golden Memories Shine

A Poem About Love Lost and Found

Love may come and love may go,

you’ll hear people say,

that only love that is true,

is love that will forever remain.

These things she had heard,

so very often in her life,

but as one love forsook her for another,

she soon kept her heart -

under lock and key.

The day he came into her life,

was a day when she thought,

that the dark of night would follow her,

surely for the rest of her life.

No ray of sun ever shown in her lonely world,

no words of love were ever heard,

he was like the drop of rain,

she had longed for,

in her life so thirsty for love -

he was the one who made her smile.

After such a long time had passed,

she was wary

and doubted what he said.

Being so entrance by her beauty,

so lost in all that she was about,

he could feel her pain and sorrow

and he vowed to make her world,

a world of love from now on,

but a man who steps into a world like this,

sometimes has more than he can handle

and though he vowed his love -

he could see that she was still unmoved.

Hiding behind all the troubles,

that she had gone through,

still remembering all the heartbreak,

not ready to trust in love again.

When he tried and time after time,

failing to melt her cold, cold heart,

he thought it was time to move on,

before his own heart,

began to ache,

before he was so in love -

that his feet would no longer stray.

He left behind a tender letter

that professed all of his love,

that told her she was his light in the morning,

his comfort when night came,

his burning desire,

his eternal flame.

As she read the letter,

slowly her heart began to beat,

beat with a love,

she thought she’d never feel again

and so she ran,

to find him boarding a bus

and she shouted simply -

“I love you, I really do!”

He turned and saw her,

like in a golden light,

her red hair flaming,

like the sunset,

upon the horizon

and then they were in each other’s arms,

knowing that their love,

was meant to be,

knowing they would love one another -

for a lifetime and into eternity.
