Gold is the New Black

The poem from my point of view

We use guns for solving our problems

We think like animals

Black

Black

Black

Skin deep I'm me

On the outside you see black

You see danger

You see dirt

I see gold

Beauty

And me

Please don't kill me because I've reached in my pocket to give you my ID

I could have said that

But the other victims did

And now they're gone

Why can't we walk freely

Why can't we talk freely

Why can't we live freely

We become broken down as a community

We are the same

We are a skin color

We all have blood running through our veins

Please love me because I love you

Please don't kill me cause I wont kill you

Please don't think about my color and what I can do because of my color

Please don't judge me before you speak to me

Please please please

But as I speak it will go through one ear and out the other

No I won't hate you for that

No I won't be scared to walk outside because I'm black and you hate me for that

No no no I won't lock myself up and hide because the world is becoming a hell for black or Hispanic people I will fight back

I will live freely and happy black

Is beautiful

Black is not dirt

Black is gold and Bold
