My favorite kind of smile
is dishonest
the kind of smile
that bears no teeth
and beams from beneath empty eyes
the kind of smile
that struggles to cover
a past, a void of emotions
begging to be uncovered.
I love the kind of smile
that takes strength
the kind of smile that is rare
the kind of smile that is somehow
a counterfeit
but still authentic to itself.
My favorite kind of smile
is not genuine
because they are happy
it is genuine
because it is purposeful
it is forced
and raw
and it is perfect in its intention.
