Girl and Tiger

Childhood Morphing

People say as a kid, while the car is going they'd imagine themselves running along with the car, hopping and flipping on different things like buildings and stop signs. I imagined something along those lines, but usually it was a tiger, slipping when it tries to catch onto the top of street signs and hoisting itself back up and throwing itself into a lunge to the nearest building. I'd sometimes imagine it getting held back and I wouldn't see it anymore but surprise surprise, it'd come running back from the top of a burning building, slipping into a window, crashing and again disappearing from my sight. I then looked away from the window and back to the driver, forgetting all about the tiger.

Some other time I looked out the window to see my imaginary tiger I saw a girl in stead. It went as you expected, this girl jumping from building to building n' all, soon enough joined with my tiger. But over time the tiger disappeared, and only came the girl. Then over time the girl disappeared for good, and when I looked out the car window, I only saw millions of people in their houses, buildings, and cars. I saw street signs to unforgivable streets and stop signs to lead to car crashes. I saw street lights with rascals under them and never again did I see my tiger or girl, and if I tried, I'd grow bored with it. That's the truth.

Recently, Miles and I were on a plane, and when I looked down, it was odd to see all the buildings. That's when I imagined some kid out there is like me and is imagining their own girl and tiger running along those things, maybe there's many tigers and girls, throwing themselves among the town.
