Getting Away from Margaritaville

After a Freakin' Jimmy Buffett Concert

Getting away

From the carnival

That we went to

Because we had tickets.

(And who wants

To miss singing clowns?)

Driving along

The highway,

Getting away

From Margaritaville,

The carnival,

Talking about

Everything

And nothing

About you

And me.

And I hear

You sing

With the

Honest song

Blaring from

Your cd

With an even

More pure, raw voice...

And I'm actually

Listening, too.

And I find

Myself not wanting

To end this ride...

Getting away

From Margaritaville,

Talking,

And you singing

Passionately,

And me being reminded

Of what music

Really is:

A voice

Singing loud

And singing strong

With truth

Behind the song,

And pain

Behind the veil.

You're like a lone flame,

A candle,

In the dark-

It's the only light

To be seen.

For that,

For this-

I would go back into

Margaritaville

A thousand and one

More times

And get lost

And confused

Amongst the singing clowns...

If it only means

To get out ultimately

Once again

With you waiting

At the end

For me,

And seeing you,

The lone flame,

And listening

To your pure,

Raw song

On the way home

From it all

With you.
