Please stop calling me
A genius, smarter than you
Give me some credit
I am no better
Than you are or even them
Give yourself credit
My mind is wired
To understand these patterns
To see connections
But I still struggle
Numbers and formulas mix
I make mistakes too
To ignore failure
Is to discredit sucess
Ignoring struggle
I dropped out of school
Resorted to GED
Couldn't get a job
I took high school math
For two whole terms of college
I barely made it
I had to relearn
Just like others in this class
Just like you would have
I can't seperate
Shades and hues from each other
They blend together
I can't remember
What's in an animal cell
Or in a plant one
I don't know how to
Spell believe versus belief
Or there their and they're
I mean, look at you
You are likely a "genius"
At something I'm not
Give me some credit
I worked hard to be here now
I'm not a genius
Give yourself credit
You worked hard to be here now
You're not a genius
We are not perfect
We struggle and fight and learn
Exactly the same
