Freedoms Voice

We look in the mirror

A happy reflection

With open eyes

And ocean waves of

Cheerful glee

The gentle smiles

That releases me

It calms my heart

Plays a piano key

And chimes resound

Freedoms melody

I listened once

To verbal mutilation

Fear without complication

Blanched and empty

Void of empathetic colour

That gave me

Painful days and nights

But I dug in deep

And stood my ground

And cleared my soul

My voice repelled

The ugly parallel

Drawn for me by less

With an open hand of faith

I built a bridge of complexities

Pilar by pilar, rod by rod

Find resilience within

Now freedom flies

Runs past the fear

Jumps over the ugliness

And again am strong

With freedoms song.

Meaning

We write because we must, because it frees us from our burdens.

The ones that are carried in the depths of our soul.

The ones that unlock the torment, the pain and the pleasure.

Inch by inch, measure by measure, we must write and

In doing so we can breath again as we have breathed life into the prose.

Like the paint from the brush, like the pot from the clay.

That within these words we can bring meaning to life.
