Forgiveness

A Poem

As the flames of hate, set by the people wanting his life, lick at the flesh of his feet and crawl slowly upward consuming his body in a bright orange glow. He lets out a silent scream as his flesh melts away from his face revealing a charred skeleton underneath.

At once, the flames extinguish, letting the darkness swallow the macabre scene as the smell of burned flesh is caught on a light breeze and carried away leaving only the smell of a cool summer's night. Laughter fills the void followed by a dim glow arising just behind where the body used to be.

As the glow continues to brighten, it reveals the silhouette of a figure just standing there. The dim glow becomes a bright light surrounding the figure and revealing the man clad in robes of white. He is standing in the ash of who he once was with outstretched arms willing to embrace all those who mocked him and ridiculed him in his previous existence.
