Forget? How Could I?

A Poem From the Heart

Darkness falls,

A cloud of black covers all.

A shadow of hate follows,

I run before I'm swallowed.

A crash of thunderous failure,

A flash of blinding light lures.

It's all in my head I'm told,

At that point I knew. You're cold.

I'm doing this to myself,

Drop the issue, place it on a shelf.

Never to be touched again,

Though I know I will now and then.

Forget? How could I?

Say that again, and look me in the eye!

Tell me I need to forget,

Lose me, then you'll regret.

How could you say such things?

Knowing full well the pain it brings.

I can't look at you, not for a while,

It'll be some time before I smile.

You've hurt me deeply,

I never knew you'd stoop so steeply.

You say you'd crumble without me,

I tell you now, I already crumbled without her.
