Forever and Always

This I promise you.

I gaze at our pictures of all our yesterdays,

and I feel the harsh sting of regret for the things

that I couldn't ever bring myself to say.

You looked up at me with those shining eyes,

as if I transformed into some kind of angel

that had been gifted unto the Earth

from the skies.

You saw the good in me along with all the faults

that I couldn't successfully hide,

and despite all my misgivings

your love still somehow resides.

You made me become stronger

with the want to actually become what you saw me as,

moved by your innocence

as I was urged to protect what you had.

You lean upon me now that you're older

for strength and guidance too,

but little do you truly understand

that it is I that just as desperately needs you.

Your laugh echoes within my mind

the sweetest sound as I go through these dark times,

allowing me to form a smile even when I stumble

through obstacles of so many kinds.

So remember dear sisters that no matter

how far we are apart,

and no matter where we are

you will always be in my heart.

Rise above the challenges of what

God has been testing you,

and know that when you look up at the sky -

that I am looking at it too.

Forever I shall love you

and always shall it be,

for no matter what may happen in this life

remember that you will always have me.

About the Creator

Stephanie Lifton

Hi! You will soon find different varieties here. I am a writer and a poet, though I am still passing some stepping stones with this. I get wrapped up in the poem sometimes and it may turn out long in the end, so I apologize in advance. :3
