It seems like forever ago
When the trees danced with the wind
And the waves crashed with each other,
The same way we did.
We weren't meant to be together now
But forever ago, we were.
The rain floods the streets
Just like your laughter flooded my head.
The thunder scared off the dogs
The same way the thought of losing you scared me.
It seems like forever ago
When I thought we were meant to be.
The lightning brightened the street corners
Like your smile brightened my day.
The heat of the campfires warmed me up
The way you did at night.
It was just forever ago
When we were meant to be.
But as soothing as it all sounds,
All good things come to an end.
Like a stray dog outside the burger joint,
I'm left waiting for you.
Like an open can of soda,
I'm left with nothing to do.
It was forever ago
But it wasn't me and you.
I'm the campfire waiting
While you're the rain in action.
You're putting me out slowly
But it's giving you satisfaction.
I was your tree
But you're the storm ripping my branches off.
Or the ocean
With you going in tsunami strong.
I'm the sadness of the grey sky
While you're the peaceful water flowing by.
I'm the logs of the campfire
Fueling your flames to reach up higher
I'm the seaweed that washed up from sea
Unwanted until you needed me.
Now it seemed like forever ago
When I was there for you
But it was never ago
When you were there for me too
Because you abandoned me
And you waked away.
But don't worry about me
Because I'll be okay.
