I know she’s looking out for me

When she calls me to bed

And I ignore her

Only hum as if in agreement

But she’s persistent and she begs me to join her

But her groans fall on deaf ears

And when I finally go to bed and say goodnight

She doesn’t answer me

I question if we’re alright

And the next morning I awake to her

She makes me want to stay

But she smacks me in the head

When I move her way

And she berates me for not listening to her

The night before

And she speaks on encore

For the rest of the morning

About how my work is such a bore

And she nags me until about noon

Then she leaves me for a couple hours

Then she jumps on my back

Telling me to take her to bed

Starts stroking my eyes and the hair on my head

And I shake her off saying

“I’ve got so much on my plate

I’ve worked so much

I’d prefer to sit down

I’m hungry and thirsty

Plus my friends from out of town

Are in town

A few late hours won’t kill me?”

She scowls and on my way back from boy's night

She grabs the wheel and jerks it

Saying:

“Yeah, but I might...”
