Following Mentor

Response Poem

I am a mentor,

Or that is the word that some have used to describe me

When all I can think of to describe them is — a friend, human.

The person that holds so much worth to others in leading,

Is also me as a follower, a learner.

To learn from mishaps but to lead by example.

To open a book and crease the page

While still wondering if what you read so far is worth reading.

I may not be the most pure of souls,

But some have shown that the dark-hearted can still find a reason to exist.

I may be flawed, I may end up being a fool.

But those blemishes is what I am trying to teach others as a part of beauty,

While still not fully agreeing with it myself.

Temptations,

Are said to be only for the weak-kneed wanderlust beings,

But they are also realization.

Live in a room for once,

Where time stands still,

And don't ever ask me why I might not take my medications.

As for me that is forgoing on forged happiness.

I dare you;

The person who finds a leader is someone who has issues with

Following their own self;

To frantically look for the moment,

When I will ever say that mixing extreme metaphor with truth,

Is bogus to those –

Who hold their hands out like wings on the top of a hill

Running down it feeling wind.

But not ever able to currently say,

that they are air-borne.

Tell me, that you have never dreamt of a different life.

Contentedness in all forms, happiness in arms reach – pull on it,

The string broke and now there are thunderous winds.

But I still will see you planting your feet in the ground,

Not sure if growling like a lion at his opponent,

Will be a fulfillment of sorts.

But if I am your leader,

Then please, let me have YOU lead by learning,

And then you can see what I see you as;

Equal.
