First Kiss

Summer

The day hot,

Summer sun burning down,

The air,

Moist with humidity.

In shorts and a tee shirt,

Trying to stay cool.

Birds singing.

Waiting for her to show,

Walking around .

Time passing slowly,

Finally she is here.

We walk out back,

Down the sidewalk,

To the hidden stairs by the road.

Bushes and weeds blocking us from all.

We sit for a while,

Talking to each other,

Finding peace in one another.

Words spewing to each other like vomit.

Dusk approaching,

The air slowly cools,

Bitter air blowing between us.

Silently sitting,

Not knowing what to say,

Staring in each other's eyes.

Feeling safe with her beside me,

She is like a blanket to a scared little kid,

My safe place.

I trust her with all my heart.

Sitting there,

Staring into her

Beautiful blue eyes,

They have a hint of orange.

She leans into my lips,

Kissing me softly,

Slowly.

Butterflies creating a riot,

In my stomach.

To me kissing isn’t a big deal,

Until her lips touched mine.

Amazing;

Her lips on mine.

Fireworks blasting off in my head,

Sparks flying up my sides,

With her touch.

The kiss not lasting long

But it was the world.

The birds still twittering their soft songs.

The sky, now darker.

The air a bit cooler.

Sitting there together,

Looking happily at each other,

No words left to speak.
