Fighter in Me

I am a human being strong and free,

able to rise from the ashes

as long as breath is within me.

I make mistakes just as easily

as I seem to make decisions,

with faults and hardships that come and go

that always aim to put me out of commission.

I have cried more than my fair share

but have also laughed probably just as much,

for it is the promise of tomorrow's sunrise

of which that I clutch.

My mind and heart are heavy

yet I somehow continue to pursue on,

for no matter what may come to pass in this life

I know that there is always darkness before the dawn.

I am stronger than I once was

with morals, hope, faith, love, pride and dreams -

taking delight in the destiny

that God had chosen especially for me.

I am a woman who can make up her mind,

whilst able to survive the problems that always

threaten to bind.

For here I stand despite it all,

dusting myself off with a smile

even after I once again fall.

You cannot keep me down

no matter how hard you may try,

because I will keep moving forward

despite your hindrance and all of your attempts

to have me give up with a resounding sigh.

Failure is not an option

to anything that I do,

and when problems arise

I will continue onward

as I fight my way through.
