Feathers

A Poem

I am changing

I can feel the difference

I'm sprouting wings

I'm not an angel

Far from one

The feathers aren't white

If you look closely enough

You can see them

Falling delicately over my shoulder blades

I'm not the same

You've enhanced my darkness

It flows from every pore

Inky and beautiful

My inner self shows when you are near

I crave the darkness that calls

I want it on the outside

We have nothing to hide

I want truth and rebellion

To be myself no matter the cost

To be yours

To walk that line

Between the little girl I used to be

and the Woman you have made

I embrace peculiarity

Abnormality

Individuality

With every feather

I am closer to who I am meant to be

Can you see my wings?
