Fear of Falling in Love

My Own Internal Fear of Love

They say love is the most powerful feeling on earth, that it should lift you above the clouds and fill your very soul with joy

I disagree.

For me, falling in love is one of the most frightening experiences to go through,

The fear of rejection,The fear of failureThe fear of loss.

My first fear,

What if they don’t love me back,That twisting pain driving its way through your soul,Wanting them to feel how you do,Watching them walk away

My second fear,

What if they do love me back,Am I enough,Is this just a fling,What if I love them too much.

Ultimately the deepest fear of all,

The fear,

Of knowing that one day you will lose that warm glow,

That one day those arms will no longer be there to comfort you,

Of the realisation that those eyes that greet you each morning will close forever,

Of wanting this love to last forever but knowing that one day one of you will wake alone,

That the words you have longed to hear will one day never come.

To me, love is the most fearful trial of our lives.

However, when I found my true love, my fears were all there waiting to tear my faith in love apart, and despite them still being very much present to this day,

I, love being in love
