Falling Away

Falling away

Only to be blown away

Into nothingness

It’s sorrows and grief told in stories deep within its roots

Only to fall away in a fire of yellows and reds

As if the pain of the past can be so easily forgotten

To be blown away in the wind

Or stacked high in piles

To be disregarded with next weeks trash

I find myself drowning in melancholy

As the last of those griefs fall to the earth

To break way for the white expanse of a new beginning

A fresh start

While the earth knows the past cannot be forgotten

And grows for more stories of pain and loss

Only to meet their untimely end each year

Each story has a beginning

And this is the end
