Fake Smile

Poetry

Do you understand what it means to have a smile that's fake?

It's like wearing a blanket, instead of a cape.

It's like eating icing, without a cake.

It is fooling everyone around you,

Letting them think that you're great.

But your mind is swirling with thoughts of,

Loneliness and hate.

When wearing a smile that isn't real,

You try to mask what you actually feel.

But when the mask cracks open,

You look for a smile to steal.

The hands of your mask come out,

And you take from those who aren't scared to feel.

Those that wear this plastic smile,

Have so much that is piled,

And stacked inside their hearts,

Without trying to file,

And trying to separate,

This pain from reality.
