Faith

A reflection on humankind, both politically and morally.

I wrote this poem in a time of stress, and still find myself returning to it today.

This world we live in has lost its faith, yet commands we read the verses.

A world that thrives on overcoming struggles, whilst not telling how fat its purse is.

Debate turns into hate crime, turning media into faux pas.

Leaving stories cut up thick enough for the readers to choke on.

While politicians are left baffled by this, and they can’t decide,

between the actions of anarchy and philosophical genocide.

They spread diversity by detention, focused on cost of the Holocaust.

Whilst children sing Star-Spanged-Banners, humming that hope’s lost.

The only superheroes hung themselves with their own capes.

Leaving us to run for the fences, only to crawl back to home plate.

And the stories told were nothing but fantasied war crimes put into child-like form.

And the whole world stopped for a moment at the death of democracy, but forget that those who chose slavery over freedom killed that dream before it could be born...
