Eye of Sadness

A Love Poem

Eye of Sadness

In the eye of sadness, you can go blind with pain,

Losing your chosen path to the light of healing.

All your efforts to survive you now exert in vain,

Better to numb your heart than continue feeling.

The weight of your emotions is too much to haul,

No one should have to carry such a heavy burden.

Life once vibrant slows down to a merciless crawl,

And you begin to wonder if you've been forgotten.

There is nowhere to turn without facing yourself,

Your feet are concrete and your strength is gone.

Even your spirit is detached from your higher self,

And your soul is buried deep under ashes like a pawn.

In the weepy eye of sadness you can lose your touch,

Grasping at the void where there once was someone.

You now understand you can never love too much,

Like the moon always seeks a little more of the sun.
