External Stressors

Rejected lyrics make great poems.

Ruminating like lasting impressions

Of stupid things I’ve said

Lights trail over glazed visions

With tails and ends of haze

Comfort and growth

Contrasting against a back drop

Set in guilt and shame

Anticipating a break from expectations

Of subtle dispositions

That linger in the shade of elation

Until the time has passed for

Peace of mind

Flirty & dirty

Like catching eyes with death

Beg to be buried in the clay

You like to front like you flirt with death

Pumping gas with a lit cigarette

It might strike a nerve in passersby

But you & I know it’s just a myth

Advanced apologies in full

Time and place were certain factors

But none more damning and emotional

Than external stressors

And unsatisfied distractors

Surrendering to me

Your waning faith in common grief

Divulge into me

With confessed distress

And don’t be brief
