Exist

A Poem about Life and Love

I existed outside of time.

Like a poem or music,

My life could not take form outside of word or line.

I existed in a glade.

From which,

No one could come to my aid.

I existed in a world alone.

Like a lonely artist,

No one else was better known.

I built my world out of firm stone.

But then you came,

And like with dynamite you had it blown.

With words like lightning you shattered my glass,

And my safe world,

Fell through the cracks.

You pulled me from where I existed.

From where I lay,

Like a broken doll sick and twisted.

However, you saw how to repare me.

You brought me out of the dark,

As if to free the person I ought to be.

But now I exist in another place.

A place where I now wish to stay,

And dare not say that to your face.

You see,

In fixing me you fixed something else.

Like a clock it started ticking,

As soon as your hand fell.

It mimics your heart.

But it beats too fast,

Like it's falling apart.

Only in your presence,

Does this sensation last.

This burning heat,

That flares to fast.

That makes the clock tick,

And my systems accelerate.

As If i’ve been hit by a brick.

This fire in my chest has been described to me before.

Known as the human emotion of love.

But from what I’ve heard it's an emotion of gore.

It is an ailment that I do not want.

Yet I feel it Inside my clock gears,

Like a haunt.

As I shut down my existence ending.

Your voice fades into memory,

Its results impending.

I never existed.

Not in a dream,

Not like you insisted.

I can not dream,

Or reach for stars.

Or let my gears shine and gleam.

My life existed inside you.

With each beat,

My life grew.

Until only that sound,

Was all I knew.
