A way of your body deciding
That it’s tired of the
Abuse
The stretching of hours
The confusion of trying to
do this thing called survive.
The heart is racing the mind
But is only so
Many paces behind.
Too many paces to
Think coherently.
Like standing on the edge
Of the Grand Canyon.
Having the ability
To jump
But the body just
Knows
That death or pain
Would follow.
Because the brain
Told it so.
The beauty of exhaustion is
The beauty of the mind to
Make a choice.
To live on the edge.
But to not jump.
To take the risk
Just far enough
For the freaking thrill of it.
