Eulogy for My Sanity

A Poem

Surrounded by my thoughts, a blunt force to my sanity

Remembering when you were there to tell me I had to keep fighting.

I was no longer alive, soul in a corpse creating my cotqueanity,

Staying here, only to be struck by God, smote by lightning.

I etched designs into my pale skin, you'd kiss my wounds and reassure me.

You gave me strength and hope but you soon became a thief and stole those precious gifts

Giving and taking, creation and destruction, you are my life’s lessee.

Pushing me as I am standing at the edge of cliffs

All the demons that were silenced by your melodic voice came back to fill my head

The solidarity of my mental confinement was peaceful like death.

Forgotten in the vibrant night, broken and bleedin’, breathing in the sugar of lead

Disregarded, I had been drowned, one of the shibboleth.
