Escape

A Place Only in My Dreams

I close my eyes to escape reality

hoping to view the land of dreams

where there is no sorrow

and no one is hungry

you'll never hear crying

or pain-filled screams.

I close my eyes

hoping to get there...

where children's voices are

filled with cheer

land where innocent is born

and no one dies;

land beyond the big blue skies.

It's here the neglected can laugh and play

in the spacious land of ancient days.

It's here the abused can be safe from harm

cause in Dream Kingdom, there's no raging storm.

It's here pangs of hunger will be fed

for golden cherubs will lead you to heaven's bread.

And it's here no hatred exists

no KKKs, no White Supremacist!

A place where I'll be safe

and feel at home...

where little black girls and boys

can freely roam.
