End of Days...

I fostered your dog today ... I want you to know

It’ll be safe with me, now that you had to let go

Life is hard with difficult decisions to make

But it was the right thing to do, for both of your sakes

Quality of life is always top of the list

I feel your pain and know it will be missed

But it's always still yours, I won’t be changing its name

And rest assured it’ll still be loved just the same

I will send you photos and tell you the things that we do

And we’ll make it a point to come visit with you

No one can tell if our health will get frail

You thought it’d go first … you never planned to fail

Many years ago, you envisaged all the ways

It would be by your side, to the end of its days

Now don’t beat yourself up as it will have a good life

Protected and spoiled with no stresses or strife

It’ll stay right here until the grim reaper beckons

And I’ll hold it tight to the very last second

Then at Rainbow Bridge it’ll wait just for you

And in time, together you’ll pass on through

It takes a good person to care for a soul

But time is just borrowed ... we never really, have any control
