Earth Is a Cancer Cell

Earth is a cancer cell

It's true, take it from me

We are a part of something so much greater

So grand

If you take the size of the Earth,

just from the sky, we are the size of ants

Marching to and fro,

what for?

Work hard, play hard

Now we're in space

Yes,

Earth is visible

Humans no longer seen

We know we are here

If we see Earth from space,

we know we are here

Further and further we go

Way up high now

Compared to the sun,

Earth is now simply a dot

Sirius,

Pollux,

Arcturus

the Earth has vanished

no longer seen

though we know it's there

a cell,

compared to these incomprehensibly large stars

Earth is just a cell

A cancer cell

Everyday we have the power,

for better or for worse

We can change the fate

this cancer cell we're living in

We feel so small,

so powerless

is there any meaning to our being

but like I said before,

part of something grand

grander beyond imagination

We can heal this cancer cell

Our purpose

To work together

Create a world within a cell

A world grander than

Sirius,

Pollux,

Or even Arcturus

We have a purpose in this grand universe.

About the Creator

Donia Schenkels

Just a poet that knows it doesn’t rhyme with poet.

I like to focus on our modern world in my writing, because let’s face it, if schools want to teach poetry, make it useful and understandable to today’s students. Language changes with time.
