Drift

A Day in the Life

When you wake up

Can’t see

Can’t breathe

You know you’re already done.

The familiar twist in your stomach

Sheer terror breaking your body

Every muscle clenched to tearing

Releasing them only makes it worse

If you relax then you’re listless

And you drift.

You stumble madly to the music while he laughs

And finally dances with you again

His black eyes glitter with delight and his

Bloodstained, shining grin has all the warmth and love

Of a razor.

Whose caress mercifully distracted you from him.

And every familiar horror flashes through your eyes as you walk through hell.

Drowning deeper every second

Blood on your hands

Seeing everyone scream

Watching your pure fire come and cleanse them

Looking at your crooked wings in the mirror

If only they could make you fly.
