Dream of a Tangible Morning

A poem of sorts about a long distance relationship.

I can’t wait to see you every morning

No fluorescent screen to bring light to our faces

But the natural gleam of the sun streaming through breaks in curtains

A gold hue washes over your skin

But there are still goosebumps as your arms are out from the warmth of the blanket

That’s my fault

I stole all the covers last night…

Come closer and it would be no issue

Your arms automatically close around me

Even in your sleep you have the same desire for closeness

I know you’re sleeping by the heavy breathing

Sorry love

But you do snore

Though I never knew an inhale could be so melodic.

Your breath brings another wave of warmth

An indescribable comfort

A safe house from the outside world

My vulnerability is precious

And you get it all

My purest form…

But you protect me

This morning with your golden arms

The goosebumps disappeared

And so did the low rumble of snores

You always said seeing me in the morning was your favorite part of the day

So I greet your sleepy smile with a kiss…

“Morning Love”

“Mmmmorning… breath~”

And so he laughs at his own joke-
