Downfall

A Poem

The world is an Eden

A place of hope and love and loss

The world is a sanctuary

Beneath the trees and grass and moss

The world is a provider

Of shelter, food, and drink

The world is our knowledge

What we hear and see and think

What is the world to us

If not what is above?

A place to share and live

Among hope, grace, and love

What is this shadow creeping near?

This dark display of hate

It smothered us so long ago

No one knows the date

Now the world is our prison

Filled with politics and lies

Where men in suits control us all

Control who lives and dies

Gone are days of hope and light

Of faith in mother earth

Here are days of dark of night

Where evil things are birthed

What has happened to us all?

Money, greed consumes

Who began this spiral down?

Our fate ahead does loom

Our sanctuary, our Eden

We poison everyday

Stop it now or watch it end

To this what will you say?
